(AFX UK Focus) 2005-02-24 13:45 GMT: U.S. Jan. durable goods orders fall 0.9% on aircraft (Interactive Investor)

WASHINGTON (AFX) - Orders for new U.S.-made durable goods sank 0.9 percent in January as demand for civilian aircraft plunged, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. Excluding the 5.3 percent drop in orders for transportation goods, new orders increased 0.8 percent.
