SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- Airline stocks closed in negative territory on Wednesday, hit by a sharp rise in oil prices. The Amex Airline Index lost 1.1% to 50.10 points. Though the industry's benchmark measure closed above its lows of the day, a data-driven spike in crude sent the group mostly lower.
