SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- A surge in oil prices sank the airline sector on Thursday afternoon as crude's run past $60 a barrel to an all-time high stoked concerns about the impact of high jet-fuel prices. At last check, the Amex Airline Index fell 2.6% to 49.22 points.
