(AFX UK Focus) 2005-06-23 21:45 GMT: Oil spike leaves airline stocks in the red (Interactive Investor)

SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- Record prices for crude-oil futures on Thursday sent the Amex Airline Index down 3.7% to 48.70 points with Delta Air Lines giving up 6.3% to $3.85. AMR Corp. , the parent of American Airlines, and ExpressJet Holdings both lost more than 4 percent as the entire index closed in the red.
