SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- Airline stocks closed lower Friday in the first day of trading in the third quarter, as Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines weighed on the Amex Airline Index. The Amex Airline Index ended the day in negative territory, down 0.2% to 47.17 points.
