SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- Led by a 7.8% gain in Northwest Airlines shares, airline stocks turned higher in afternoon trading Friday and paced a broad market upturn. Crude oil futures also fell. The Amex Airline Index rose 3% to 47.60 points, wiping out the week's losses.
