(AFX UK Focus) 2005-08-10 21:33 GMT: Airline index closes higher in face of record oil prices (Interactive Investor)

SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- Rising shares of AMR Corp. , Northwest Airlines and SkyWest Inc. helped keep the Amex Airline Index in positive territory on Wednesday even as crude-oil futures hit a record high in New York trading. The Amex Airline Index rose 0.5% to 48.34 points.
