Airline union calls strike (Salisbury Post)

WASHINGTON (AP) *** Mechanics struck Northwest Airlines early this morning after refusing big pay cuts and layoffs that would have cut their numbers almost in half. The nation's fourth largest airline pledged to keep flying with replacements.
