The 187 passengers and six crew members aboard American Airlines flight 1593 had quite a scare Sunday. Their flight departed Fort Lauderdale at 11:06 a.m. for Los Angeles, and passengers smelled smoke about 20 minutes into the flight, airline and federal aviation officials said.
