A shortage of hotel rooms in Dubai is holding back tourism growth and room capacity must double by 2010 to sustain present rates, according to a Dubai tourism official quoted in Gulf News. Dubai had 5.4m tourists in 2004, an 8 per cent growth on 2003, with the same level of growth expected this year. Dubai currently has 33,000 hotel rooms, with an additional 2,700 rooms to open in 2007. [AMEInfo.com]
