Hotel runway threat, says MP

A Beirut MP says the Al Habtoor group's five-star hotel built near the airport threatens the safety of flights passing over the area. MP Mohammed Qabbani told The Daily Star that the hotel's height and position caused the Rafik Hariri airport's eastern runway to be closed. Al-Habtoor group issued a statement denying safety or legal breaches, and said the hotel complied with its official building licence. The sea-facing western runway is the airport's main runway. []
