Northwest Mechanics Refusing Pay, Job Cuts Go on Strike; Replacement Workers Will Keep Airline Going (RedNova)

WASHINGTON - Northwest Airlines mechanics went on strike early today after refusing big pay cuts and layoffs that would have cut their numbers almost in half. The nation's fourth largest airline pledged to keep flying with replacements.
