Northwest mechanics strike; airline plans to keep flying (Republican American)

WASHINGTON -- Northwest Airlines mechanics decided Friday night to walk off the job after months of negotiations failed, the union said. Jim Young, union spokesman, said the mechanics would rather see the airline go into bankruptcy than agree to Northwest's terms.
