Gene Hornung holds a model of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Gambier Bay, a model he took 10 months to put together. A U.S. Navy veteran, Hornung said the U.S.S. Gambier Bay was the only carrier sunk by the Japanese at Leyte Gulf.
