The expert's view (The Observer)

I worked in aviation security as a profiler for the US carrier TWA at Heathrow in the late 1980s. We would check passports and travel documents as people queued to check in and ask about their travel plans. I never knowingly detected a terrorist, but we found people with false passports every day.

DIC to snap up $1.3bn Travelodge

Dubai International Capital is on the brink of closing a deal for the UK's budget hotel chain, Travelodge, for a figure of $1.3bn, reported Gulf News. Aviation minister orders re-operation of Cairo-Beirut line (ArabicNews.com)

Emirates to expand cargo

Emirates could expand its cargo fleet to more than 40 aircraft within the next few years, but has no intention to turn Emirates SkyCargo into an independent company, deputy executive director Gaith Al Gaith told Gulf News. Emirates more flights in September

Airport retailers watch UK situation

Gulf airport retailers are monitoring the security situation in the UK following the introduction of procedures which could seriously affect sales of duty free items, reported Gulf News.
