Dubai is granting 30-year concessions on plots near proposed passenger stations connecting the 69.7km Dubai Light Transit Rail system, according to a Gulf News report. Dubai Municipality's transportation planning specialist Dr Abdelqader Elshabani said the rail project will increase public transport use from the current 4.7% to over 17%, with the aim of achieving 35% by 2020.
