$19m pedestrian safety plan

Dubai is spending $19m to upgrade pedestrian safety around the city, according to Gulf News. The Roads and Traffic Authority will put in 17 new pedestrian overpasses on busy roads, new signal crossings and flat hump crossings. Sheikh Zayed Road is the most dangerous for pedestrians, with 23 killed in 2005. [AMEInfo.com]
